Our city, the active and growing city of
Yoshikawa, became the 43rd city of Saitama
prefecture in April 1996.
 Located east of the Edo River and west of
the Naka River, Yoshikawa is known as the
production area  "Wase"rice. It was once know
n as the hub station of the river
transportation for commodities shipped out
to Tokyo in the17th century. The city enjoys
the long history and tradition cultivated
through the business associated with the
rivers.
In fact, the city is actively promoting itself as 
the Homeland of Catfish.The city is launching
the concept of "the Humanity Stage", in which
Yoshikawa City places it's main focus on the
harmonious relationship between  citizens and
nature, the preservation of the environment,
the promotion of social welfare,　and the
further vitalization of the local economy
and culture.
